[NASDAQ: NETL], a leader in the design and development of knowledge-based processors and high-speed integrated circuits, today announced general availability of its NL33100 NETLite™ processor that delivers double the performance and IPv4/IPv6 database density compared to competitive solutions. NetLogic Microsystems’ new NETLite processors, which are designed with a seamless interface to the new generation of switches and network processors, enable a multitude of intelligent packet-based protocols at wire-speed on multi-Gigabit systems at lower power consumption and higher port density. NetLogic Microsystems’ NETLite processor product line is targeted at cost-sensitive, high-volume applications such as entry-level switches, routers and access equipment. Through its collaboration with leading merchant switching and network processing silicon vendors, NetLogic Microsystems has optimized the new additions to its NETLite processor family to support the deployment of next-generation IP-converged networks including IPv6 routing, protocol tunneling, virtual private LAN services (VPLS), policy-based routing, per-flow VoIP management, and service provider bridging. Original equipment manufacturers are increasingly looking to accelerate packet classification and forwarding in their systems as converged IP networks evolve to provide rich media services and as the next-generation networks migrate from IPv4 to complex IPv6 addressing. The NL33100 processor family’s superior processing performance uniquely addresses these requirements of next-generation networking equipment classification requirements, and is uniquely designed to achieve higher line-rate performance while at the same time increasing the database capacity by 2X for IPv6 databases. “Our new NL33100 NETLite processor family is optimized to deliver the performance, cost point, feature-rich integration and low-power consumption required by customers to address the growing demand for performing forwarding and classification functions closer to the end user,” said Chris O’Reilly, vice president of marketing at NetLogic Microsystems. “By combining field-proven features with flexibility, scalability, proven interoperability and software support, we are meeting our customers’ demands for more functionality at lower system costs and faster time-to-market.” The NL33100 processor is available today and is shipping in production quantities.
