Super compact thin-client device utilizes 600MHz processor for advanced multimedia capabilities and extremely low power consumption for the Enterprise and Education Markets

Cupertino, CA September 15, 2008 — RMI Corporation, a leading supplier of high performance processors for communications and media, today announces that Chip PC Technologies, a global technology leader in the area of desktop virtualization and server-centric solutions has selected the RMI Alchemy™ Au1250 Processor for its next-generation thin-client device, the Xtreme PC LX, targeted at the Enterprise and Education Markets.

Powered by the RMI® Alchemy Au1250® Processor, operating at 600MHz, the Xtreme PC LX is capable of supporting up to a 1600x1200 resolution display and offers advanced multimedia capabilities in a super-compact, energy-saver form-factor. The Xtreme PC LX operates the Chip PC LX-Operating System with Video-over-RDP (VoRDP) and full multimedia functionality, including hardware acceleration. The new device utilizes a RISC-based architecture with increased storage, DVI or VGA video, 2 channel audio, a USB 2.0, and a power-by-monitor option.

The RMI Alchemy Au1250 Processor Family meets the needs of consumer and enterprise media applications by offering a high-performance, low-power processor capable of delivering a rich multi-media experience to end users under 1/2 watt (450mW). The Au1200 Processor Family includes media processors targeted for full-featured Portable Media Players, Personal Navigation Devices (PND) and Thin-Client devices. The RMI Alchemy product line provides system designers an easy-to-use, simple solution to create full-featured consumer solutions with greatly reduced design cycle times.
