RMI Powers Next Generation Firewall Appliance for LegendSec, the Chinese Leader in the Security Market Providing High Throughput and Scalability

LegendSec’s SecGate 3600 Series Utilizes RMI’s Multi-Core, Multi-Threaded XLR® and
XLS® Processor Engines for its newly announced 20G throughput firewall device

Cupertino, CA and Beijing, China – December 2, 2008 — RMI Corporation, a leading supplier of multi-core, multi-threaded processors for communications and media rich applications, today announced that LegendSec, a leading security product vendor and services provider in China for the SOC (Security Operations Center) and Security Evaluation/Solution, is utilizing the XLR® and XLS® Processors for its next-generation Firewall Appliance targeted at the telecomm carrier and large enterprise network providing high throughput with easy deployment and management. The newly announced product from LegendSec has 20G of throughput for its firewall appliance.

The LegendSec SecGate 3600 Series is a high-end Firewall Appliance, powered by RMI’s 8-core, 32-thread XLR Processor, built on top of LegendSec's SecOSII -- its own multi-core/multi-thread capable security operating system. The SecGate 3600 is believed to be the first high-end security product designed and developed by a Chinese company with full certification from various national security authorities in China. LegendSec is also utilizing the XLS Processor from RMI for various versions of the SecGate 3600 Series. The software compatibility of the XLR and XLS Processor™ Families provides LegendSec with the ability to offer a complete suite of firewall appliances with multiple price and performance points.

“We have made great strides in the domestic security market and are now in a leadership role with multi-core?multi-threaded firewall production. RMI’s XLR and XLS Processors deliver increased performance and higher scalability. With XLR and XLS, we are able to provide the first series of high performance multi-core firewall products in China. This capability fits our target customers’ typical demand and enables them to enhance security manageability and to build up a stronger multi-security defense system.” said Yong Cheng, CPO (Chief Product Officer) of LegendSec.

“We see LegendSec as a leader in the security infrastructure market and are pleased to be the processor of choice for their mid-range to high-end SecGate product series.” “We believe that RMI’s multi-core multi-threaded processors will continue to advance legendSec’s platform and provide a roadmap for their continued success, and we are pleased to be part of their future,” said Sunny Siu, president, RMI Asia.
