RMI and Allot Communications Expand Strategic Partnership to Broaden and Accelerate the Development of DPI-based Solutions
Multi-Core Multi-thread Communication Processors Enhance Offerings, Bring Higher Levels of Performance and Increased Functionality
Cupertino, CA - July 1, 2009 — At the RMI “Performance 2009” Conference, RMI Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance processors for communication and media rich applications and Allot Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALLT), a leader in IP service optimization and revenue generation solutions based on deep packet inspection (DPI), announced today that they have reached an agreement for RMI to be a strategic provider of multi-core multi-threaded processors for Allot’s high-performance platforms. The performance of RMI multi-core Processors will allow Allot to achieve high throughput, low latency and increased functionality.
“RMI is extremely proud to enable Allot Communications achieve the price / performance points required to expand their product portfolio,” said Behrooz Abdi, president and Chief Executive Officer, RMI. “Allot’s continued growth in the fixed and mobile markets is exciting to us. We will help Allot leverage their investment in RMI multi-core to drive differentiation across multiple tiers.”
Initially, as part of the strategic relationship, RMI is providing Allot with the XLR Processor® for Allot’s top-end platforms and appliances - the Allot Service Gateway Sigma (SG-Sigma) (40Gbps) and the Allot NetEnforcer AC-10000 series.
The Allot SG-Sigma is a carrier-grade, highly scalable DPI-based service gateway platform designed for mobile and next-generation networks, providing built in readiness for 3G, 4G/LTE and converged environments. With 40 Gbps of throughput, SG-Sigma enables operators to manage high-speed broadband performance, control operating costs, and generate new revenue streams through the deployment of network and subscriber services.
The Allot NetEnforcer AC-10000 series is a highly robust and scalable bandwidth management device which enables improved management of bandwidth intensive applications. It facilitates a reduction of capex/opex through maximizing network utilization and guaranteeing user/subscriber quality of experience (QoE).
“Our choice of RMI as a supplier of multi-core processors for our solutions is based on our successful past experience working with them,“ said Andrei Elefant, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Allot Communications. “RMI is a critical part of our solution and we look forward to further expanding our relationship in the future.”
RMI Communication Processors
The XLR® and XLS® Communication Processors are high-performance, highly integrated SoC processors utilizing a multi-core multi-threaded architecture based on a MIPS64® instruction set. The XLR Processor consists of an innovative set of XLR cores enabling up to 32 threads, or virtual CPUs (vCPUsTM), in a single chip. The XLR and XLS Processors® utilize enhanced MIPS64 compatible cores implementing fine-grained, 4-way multithreading combined with a multi-level hierarchy of caches, autonomous accelerators, and point-to-point interconnects for data and message transfers. RMI’s processing solutions run at frequencies with a range of 800MHz - 1.5 GHz and are optimized for maximum throughput and workload efficiency.
