Ultra Low-Power Processor Family: Au1210®

NetLogic Microsystems’ industry-leading Alchemy® Processor family comprises a series of ultra low-power embedded processors that deliver the powerful processing performance, ultra low-power functionality and market specific integration required for next-generation products like enterprise thin clients, automotive infotainment, telematics, and other media rich embedded applications.

The NetLogic Microsystems Au1210® navigation processor is a derivative of the NetLogic Microsystems Au1250 processor and is optimized for Portable Navigation Devices (PNDs) and dedicated media applications. The Au1210 is both pin- and software-compatible with the Ultra Low-Power Au1200® and Au1250 processors, and enjoys similar functions of the Au1250 except for reduced clock rate, video resolution, and AES encryption/decryption support. The Au1210 processor operates at frequencies up to 400MHz and supports video decode up to Wide-CIF resolution (480x288). This targeted functionality enables the Au1210 to address the needs of cost-sensitive applications such as GPS navigation, where video playback is important, but full D1 video resolution is not required. The processor is available in an extended temperature range option of -40ºC to 100ºC for all speeds.Au1210 PMP

The Au1210 processor also leverages a unique approach to DDR1 and DDR2 memory to deliver better overall performance than SDRAM components. And, the Au1210 processor achieves faster I/O via USB 2.0 to give designers a range of enhanced connectivity options.

No Need for DSPs
The NetLogic Microsystems Ultra Low-Power Au1210 processor incorporates an integrated Media Acceleration Engine® (MAE) optimized for video to eliminate the need for DSPs and specialized coding. This means less overall power consumption and a simplified design.

Video Codecs ported by NetLogic Microsystems = Low Engagement Cost
Since NetLogic Microsystems ports all video codecs that are supported by the onchip MAE, there is no need to engage expensive 3rd party codec software development vendors. No NRE, so OEMs/ODMs immediately realize a lower solution cost.
