XLS Processor® Family
NetLogic Microsystems’ XLS Processor® Family is a mid-range to entry-level, price optimized family. The XLS Processor is a general purpose processor, with a high level of programmability, scalability, intelligent packet management and the ability to combine control plane, data plane and security operations into a single processor.
Leveraging key technology from NetLogic Microsystems’ flagship XLR Processor, including its MIPS-compatible Multi-Core, Multi-Threaded architecture, the XLS Processor provides the speed, scalability and innovation necessary for mid-range to entry-level applications while maintaining software compatibility throughout both product families.
The XLS Processor Family addresses applications where PCB real estate and power are a premium, as well as those requiring integrated network connectivity, security and compression acceleration options. The XLS Processor Family consists of the 600 Series, 400 Series, 400Lite Series, 200 Series and the cost efficient 100 Series and features unprecedented power and performance for embedded communication, network attached storage (NAS), telecom, enterprise wireless and wired-line LAN, and SMB networking.
The XLS Processor accelerates packet oriented applications essential for security appliances, wireless access points and switches, ATCA and AMC service cards, secured wire-line routers and switches, and telecom media gateways, radio controllers and network signaling products.
The XLS Processor Family includes, the most recently announced member, the Quad Core XLS416 and XLS616 Processors, to serve the emerging needs in wireless base station applications. The new offering represents the industry’s first Multi-Core, Multi-Threaded processor with integrated support for Serial RapidIO interface as well as for IEEE1588 precision timing protocol (PTP) controller making it an ideal solution for next generation designs. Each of the new quad-core members of the XLS Processor Family provide customers with pin-compatible upgradeability to the previously announced dual core and single core processors within the XLS Family.
