NETLATX-IIC Evaluation Kit
PRODUCT BRIEF

XLR Processor® ATX-IIC Evaluation Kit

Features and Highlights

The ATX-IIC evaluation kit includes a standard ATX form factor board that ships with an XLR732 processor installed. The board enables key XLR processor interfaces such as optional DDR1, DDR2 or RLDRAM memory, TCAM/NSE, HyperTransport, PCI-X, and Quad Gigabit and Dual 10Gbps Ethernet MACs. In addition, a complete set of firmware, OS and debug tools is provided to enable a complete test environment. Since all members of the XLR processor family are pin-compatible, the same board layout can be used to accommodate other processors in the XLR family. The board contains an 850 nm optical module per 10Gb interface for connection to an optical backplane. The ATX-IIC evaluation kit includes ATX case and power supply.

Firmware
NetLogic Microsystems provides the XLR Firmware environment (boot loader) which enables initialization of all XLR processor virtual CPUs (threads) and peripherals such as L2 cache, Ethernet MACs, SPI-4.2, PCI-X, HyperTransport, DDR2 memory controller and UARTs. The XLR Firmware also provides for offline diagnostics and enables the evaluation board to boot operating systems from the network or on-board flash.

Operating System Support
The ATX-IIC board supports the 32-bit Linux 2.6 and VxWorks® 5.5 operating systems. Full source code is available and SMP support is standard. In addition, VxWorks® 5.5 contains BSP support from Wind River.

Development Tools
NetLogic Microsystems supports the industry-standard GNU compiler tool chain with an XLR-optimized GCC compiler and a MIPS cross-compile tool chain for x86 / Linux. In addition, the XLR processor is supported by the Multi-Thread-aware Corelis CodeRunner source level debugger and complete family of JTAG controllers. NetLogic Microsystems also provides an optional Linux-based XLR Debugger.

XLR Processor
The XLR processor family is a cost-effective, single-chip solution providing the key building block for next-generation, scalable multiservice system solutions. It combines the power of an innovative multiprocessing, Multi-Threaded architecture, the flexibility of extensive industry-standard media interfaces and the simplicity of a leading edge, general purpose MIPS64 core.
