Overview
The NetLogic Microsystems’ Secure Wireless Gateway reference design enables multi-service gateways and Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances targeted at the Small to Medium Business (SMB) market.

Secure Wireless Gateway Reference Design Overview
The XLS-based® Secure Wireless Gateway reference design is capable of supporting up to 7 GbE ports, 4 USB ports, and compact flash. The reference design connects to a 802.11n card, or a legacy 802.11a/b/g card, through the MiniPCIe interface.

An on-board regular expression solution from Netlogic Microsystems solves pattern matching problems that are critical for intrusion detection and intrusion prevention scenarios. The NLS045 content processor can process 100K+ rules and provides OEM’s and ODM’s the flexibility of selecting from a range of pin-compatible content processors with performance ranging from 400 Mbps to 4 Gbps.

NetLogic Microsystems’ wireless gateway/UTM reference design is a complete hardware and reference software solution supported by a full ecosystem of ODM partners.

XLS® Processor
The MIPS-64 XLS® Processor features state-of-the-art multi-core, multi-threading technology that includes:

• Fast Messaging Network™ for efficient on-chip communication.
• Autonomous Security Acceleration Engine® and compression engine that offload the CPU to perform other critical tasks.
• Optimal cache subsystem that incorporates separate L1 caches per-core, and a large shared L2 cache for increased application performance.

The XLS processor family gives OEMs and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) the flexibility to choose from a range of pin-compatible single-core to quad-core processors, depending upon performance requirements.

NetLogic Microsystems Software Development Kit
The Secure Wireless Gateway reference design includes a complete Software Development Kit (SDK) based on Linux. The SDK includes the Linux kernel, thin executive operating system, and industry-standard GNU tool chains, along with driver support for the peripherals.

NetLogic Microsystems has established a broad partner alliance to enable OEMs to quickly take the Secure Wireless Gateway reference design
